The History of Floyd & Fred's
When Floyd and his family vacationed in the Bahamas a number of years ago, they were introduced to a spicy sauce based on island key lime juice that the locals used to give their food real zing. Over several years Floyd tinkered with the formula and created his own version, which he began sharing with friends. A lifelong gourmet chef and and self-proclaimed "foodie", Floyd's list of friends inevitably included a wide assortment of restauranteurs, deli managers, chefs and caterers. It was the unanimous enthusiasm from this very knowledgable group that quickly convinced Floyd that he had stumbled onto something truly special.
After 30 years in publishing, Floyd followed his passion and dove headlong into cooking and gourmet food by running a couple of fancy food markets. This increased his exposure to the inner workings of the food industry also provided additional exposure for his homemade sauce. Finally, after hearing "It's great, how do I get some?" one too many times to ignore, Floyd enlisted his son Fred and together they set out to produce his sauce for everyone to enjoy.
Often shortened to "Floyd & Fred's," Floyd & Fred Foods is the parent company of Floyd & Fred's HotLime and based in San Francisco, California. We believe our company embodies much of the iconic city's best traits: a love of great seafood and fine food in general, embracing an all-natural, healthy lifestyle and an overall joie de vivre mantra that proclaims, life is too short to settle for bland food or a bland life!
Floyd & Fred Foods is a classic family owned-and-operated business, run by Floyd and his son Fred, and now assisted by a third generation, Fred's son Hayden.

October 2001 - hotlime.com joins the internet, announcing the first production of Floyd's Famous HotLime sauce in the Fall of 2001.
February 2011 - After beginning production in 2002 and rebranding to "Floyd & Fred's HotLime" in 2008, the Floyd & Fred's website remained widely unchanged after ten years since it's creation.
November 2016 - The Floyd & Fred's website was finally brought into the 21st century with a complete overhaul, featuring a modern look and online ordering system.
